Jake's Western Grill opened its doors in January 2008. Since then, the comfort food restaurant has earned a reputation for serving generous portions of high-quality food with Southern style.
Vicka Haywood assumed ownership of Jake's Western Grill in September 2017. She brought 20 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry to the table. Vicka started her career at a national restaurant chain in Atlanta, GA. It was there that she discovered her natural knack in the restaurant industry. While at that restaurant, she was promoted to floor lead and selected for the A-Team, a group that helped to open new franchise locations.
After moving to Whidbey Island in 2003, Vicka spent time working for Mitzel’s American Kitchen, where she was an assistant manager, and the Oak Harbor Yacht Club in catering management.
“I discovered early on that my true calling was in the food and hospitality industry, particularly with catering,” Haywood said. “Making someone’s special occasion more than what they were expecting, every day is different. I get to work with and meet so many interesting people. That’s what makes it all worthwhile.”
As the owner of Jake's Western Grill, Vicka plans to continue growing and evolving the business while maintaining the restaurant's legacy of offering excellent food and top-notch service.
Jake's Western Grill offers BBQ classics such as pulled pork, baby back ribs, and brisket. In addition to the myriad BBQ dishes served, Jake's also offers a selection of burgers, chicken, and salads.
Meals come with their famous made-to-order cornbread; there is a bar with happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Breakfast is served between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
